First of all, I have to sing the praises of this stone. It is an unusual stone because it has the appearance of an Asscher cut, (GIA calls it a cut-cornered rectangular step cut) and it also has some characteristics of an old mine cut - such as a high table and large open culet. This is because it was likely recut in the art deco era from an elongated old mine cut. (The stone is repurposed from an art deco ring). I love the clarity of the stone and its high profile. It faces up very white. I absolutely adore this setting in 20k gold in a signet style with a tapering band.
